Houdek's Shopping Tips

To all of our loyal customers, First and foremost, we hope you and your families are all well and safe in these very trying days. We are all doing our best to follow social distancing and all the other steps we can take to “Slow the Spread.” Be assured we remain open with our regular hours. In the interest of your health and of those around you, we’d like to offer up a few friendly shopping “tips” to help minimize exposure to this insidious virus. Remember as best you can to practice social distancing (six feet) when on line to check out or when passing fellow customers in the aisles. Consider reducing your number of trips out over these next few weeks by buying in quantity of your “regular” items. Before you are coming in to shop, have a “game plan”. Make a list in advance of what you want and need. This will get you in and out quicker! If your list includes something you are not sure where it is, do not be afraid as you walk in to ask our always charming and helpful staff to point you in the right direction so you can find your product quicker. You can see if we have what you need before you head out! Browse through a listing of our inventory on the “What’s In Stock” tabs on our website (www.houdeks.com). Seniors, or those with compromised health, might wish to ask a younger family member, or neighbor, to shop for them. You can call ahead (631-472-1300) and tell us what you are coming in for, and we will have it ready right up front when you come in. This will minimize your time walking around the store. And finally, if you like we will provide you with curbside service. Call us in advance with your order, pay over the phone, and we will gladly pick the items and have them ready to bring out to you in the parking lot. We encourage you to bring in your own bags, and in doing our part in keeping interactions to a minimum, ask you bag your own purchases. We are aggressively, and regularly, sanitizing our commonly touched areas (countertops, door handles, credit card processing machines, shopping carts, etc.) to keep everybody safe. We ask our customer to refrain from leaning on the counters. This will help us maintain the surfaces between sanitizing. As a family business, we have proudly served our community for 55 years with the greatest concern for our neighbors.
