Stella Trattoria of Blue Point recently was the location for 15 lovely ladies donning red hats for a luncheon. Although they are no longer affiliated with the official Red Hat Society they still get together once a month to socialize for a luncheon.
It was a sea of red hats of all shapes and sizes filling a big section of the restaurant. Linda Seitz of Blue Point organized this delightful afternoon. Since there are no officers they take turns organizing lunches. Most of the Red Hat Ladies are from the area – Bayport, Blue Point and Sayville. Linda said, “We really enjoy getting together and going to restaurants together. That is our priority now and it is lovely to be with these women.”
Since the group is getting older they are not able to do as many events as they use to mostly because no one wants to drive too far. They feel it is very important for them to continue with their monthly lunches to remain social. And they do this, all while giving back to the community. After this luncheon the Red Hat Ladies made a monetary donation to Our Lady of the Snow Food Pantry.
New members of this luncheon group are always welcome to join, as long as you wear a red hat. They try to limit the group to around 20 ladies so that restaurants can accommodate them. Contact Linda at goggylin@gmail.com for more information
